Lisbon is the capital and the largest city of Portugal. It is located at the mouth of Tagus River where it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Portugal is called "The End of Europe" not only because of its geographic location but also because of its overall atmosphere - its look is inspired by its overseas colonies rather than by its European neighbours. Only a small part of Lisbon's many sights include:
The Alfama district – the oldest and most picturesque district in Lisbon, where you can see the Lisbon Cathedral (Santa Maria Maior de Lisboa or Sé de Lisboa); the Castle of St. George perched atop the highest hill and Largo das Portas do Sol Terrace, where you can admire the beautiful views of the city and the river.
