Sofia Airport welcomes its 5-millionth passenger

If in 2016 Sofia Airport needed just one day to exceed the number of 5 million passengers, in 2017 this is already a fact more than two months before the end of the year. 34-year old Petya Stoyanova arrived on Bulgaria Air flight from Varna.

 

Sofia Airport Board of Directors welcomed the chosen passenger with a gift voucher for the airport duty free shops and a basket of flowers. From the airline the lucky lady received a gold card for membership in the loyal client programme.

Over 4 million passengers for the first 8 months of 2017

Sofia Airport maintains a trend of positive results. In the first eight months of the year a total of 4 363 140 people passed through Sofia Airport, which is an increase of 41% compared to the same period last year. In August, Sofia Airport served 33% more passengers or a total of 615 544.

Sofia Airport at 80

Sofia Airport has the potential to become one of the largest and most modern airports in the Balkans. This was said by Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, at the event marking the 80th anniversary of Sofia Airport. He announced that more than 4 million and 400,000 passengers had been served at the airport since the beginning of 2017, which was a 41% increase compared to the same period last year.

The photos have not only artistic but also informational value. Sofia Airport with nearly 34% increase in passengers in July

During the first seven months of the year Sofia Airport saw 3 747 596 passengers, which is a record-breaking increase of 42 % compared to the same period last year.

 

In July the served passengers reached more than 611 thousand. Terminal 2 saw 65% of passenger traffic, and Terminal 1 – the remaining 35%.
