For a fourth consecutive year the passengers and visitors to Sofia Airport received oil-bearing roses from the land of Panicherevo village, Stara Zagora district.
Rose blossoms picked up early in the morning are fresh, a bit moist from the dew and with intense specific fragrance. This fragrance could be sensed in the public area of Terminal 2 and contributed to the cheerful mood of passengers.
That is the title of the photography exhibition opened at Terminal 2 today. It is presented by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, whose chairman prof. Christo Pimpirev made a welcome speech at the event.
The exhibition accompanies the welcoming of the delegates participating in the XXXVIII Consultative Meeting of the Parties to the Antarctic Treaty hosted by Sofia. The forum is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Prof. Pimpirev addressed the hosts on behalf of all his colleagues:
On the eve of the Day of Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture, and Slavonic Alphabet, students at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” performed a holiday concert in
the area after border control at Sofia Airport.
Passengers departing from Terminal 2 were pleasantly surprised and sensed the festive atmopshere of one of the most wonderful Bulgarian national holidays.

Sofia Airport reported a 6.5% increase in the number of serviced passengers for April 2015. Their total number for that period equalled to 325 790 as compared to 305 944 for the same period last year. International scheduled passenger traffic increased by 6.3 %, reaching 308 670 passengers for the month.
Sofia Airport welcomed with water salute the aircraft of Swiss International Air Lines that landed at 09:29 a.m. from Zurich.
The official ceremony celebrating the return of the Swiss air carrier to Bulgaria was attended by Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski, the Ambassadors of the two countries – Their Excellencies Denis Knobel and Meglena Plugchieva, Sofia Airport’s Executive Director Hristo Shterionov, Head of SWISS Austria and Central Eastern Europe Bernhard Wodl, and journalists.
