Direct flights from Sofia to 50 airports during the winter schedule

Sofia Airport’s “Winter 2015/16” Flight Schedule has come into force and will last until 26 March 2016.

During the season, 24 airlines operate direct flights from and to Sofia on 57 air routes, out of which 55 international and two domestic.

Daily air routes connect Sofia Airport to the capitals of European and Middle Eastern countries. In convenient time for passengers, aircraft land and take off to Athens, Amsterdam, Belgrade, Berlin, Warsaw, Moscow, Paris, Rome.


Over 3 million passengers at Sofia Airport in the first nine months of 2015


During the first nine months of 2015 at Sofia Airport a total of 3 125 625 departing and arriving passengers were serviced – 6 % more as compared to the previous year.

Passengers on international scheduled flights increased by almost 180 thousand. That segment forms 92 % of the entire airport traffic.


Emergency preparedness exercise at Sofia Airport

Today, 30 September 2015, a scheduled full-scale emergency preparedness exercise was carried out at Sofia Airport. It aimed at testing the preparedness level of the airport authorities for response in emergency situations.

The exercise was conducted in two stages – response actions of the Fire and Rescue Department in emergencies, as well as moving aircraft that went off the runway while landing and could not taxi.

The exercise proved that the authorities were well prepared for taking response actions in emergency situations.


Photography exhibition “Bulgaria – an attractive tourist destination” again at Sofia Airport

On the World Tourism Day (27 September), for a sixth consecutive year, photography exhibition “Bulgaria – an attractive tourist destination” starts its journey around the country from Sofia Airport.


11% more passengers in August at Sofia Airport


The largest Bulgarian international airport hosted 418 846 passengers, which was 11 % more than the same month one year earlier. Traditionally, August is the busiest month for the airport. But this year the passenger flow at both terminals reached its highest levels.
