Sofia Airport with 6th based aircraft of airline Wizz Air and 4 new routes

An official ceremony held at Sofia Airport gave start to the new year-round scheduled flights operated by airline Wizz Air to Oslo/Torp, Birmingham, Alicante and Copenhagen.

Traditionally, the inaugural flight from Oslo/Torp was welcomed with a water cannon salute at Sofia Airport. The crew was surprised pleasantly by the hosts with a basket full of traditional Bulgarian products, and the arrival passengers – with branded souvenirs.


80 thousand passengers more during the first two months of Sofia Airport




Sofia Airport statistics for January and February maintain the positive tendency with which it ended the previous year. The total number of passengers at both terminals is 641 807, which is 14 % more as compared to the same period last year. Passengers on scheduled international flights increased by 17 % due to the new direct routes launched in the summer last year.


Sofia Airport entered into a cooperation agreement with Chinese company

Hristo Shterionov, the Executive Director of “Sofia Airport” EAD, concluded a cooperation agreement with Chinese company “East Like Information Technology Service”. The event in Shanghai was attended also by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communication Anton Ginev. The visit was made in the period 2-6 March in the People's Republic of China.


Martenitsas for passengers at Sofia Airport

On the occasion of 1 March – Baba Marta (Grandma March) holiday, Sofia Airport and students of school “Ivan Bogorov” – Sofia organized a joint initiative. Dressed in folk costumes, the children gave martenitsas to the departing and arriving passengers. The event raised the spirits and provoked the smiles and interest of the foreigners who learnt about our tradition as early as upon their arrival to Bulgaria.



Sofia Airport and guest lounges with compliment to the ladies on the occasion of St. Valentine’s Day

On the occasion of St. Valentine’s Day, a joint initiative of Sofia Airport and the Edoardo Miroglio wine cellar raised the spirits of the ladies who visited the guest lounges at Terminal 2.
