To use guest lounges 100 times

Stanislav Razpopov is the person who used 100 times Preslav guest lounge at Sofia Airport in one year. Mr. Razpopov is a Regional Director South-East Europe and Turkey in Dunapack Packaging GmbH, Austria, and an Executive Director of Dunapack Rodina. In 2011 he was the winner of the 2011 “Manager of the Year” competition.


With a scent of roses

Traditionally, in the midst of the rose harvest, passengers and visitors at Sofia Airport were welcomed with freshly picked blossoms of oil-bearing Rosa Damascena from the village of Panicherevo. Women wearing Bulgarian folk costumes and volunteers were handing out the flowers that had become a symbol of our country.


For a fifth consecutive year Sofia Airport promotes the initiative that generates public interest and draws attention to the Bulgarian rose industry.





10 years Wizz Air at Sofia Airport

For 10 years already Sofia Airport has been one of the main air carrier’s bases in Europe.

At the official ceremony marking the event, Mr. Jozsef Varadi, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, announced that as of December one more – seventh aircraft would be based at Sofia, three new routes would be launched to Doncaster/Sheffield, Basel and Nuremberg and the frequency of current ones would be increased.



Sofia Airport welcomed Poli Genova

After Poli Genova’s triumphant Eurovision performance in Stockholm, the first person to greet her after she disembarked the aircraft was Mrs. Asya Ivanova, a member of the Board of Directors of “Sofia Airport” EAD. She addressed her with the words: “I would like to thank you on behalf of all Bulgarians for making us extremely happy and very proud and to tell you that you are the real winner in this competition”.


Sofia Airport with a 50 % increase in cargo and mail shipments in April




Sofia Airport reported a 13% increase in the number of serviced passengers in April 2016. Their total number for the period was 367 696 as compared to 325 790 for the same month last year.


There was an increased of 14,7% in the passengers on scheduled international flights who form 96% of total passenger throughput. Passengers on domestic flights also achieved a 7,7% increase.
