Martenitsas at Sofia Airport

On the occasion of March 1 passengers at Sofia Airport received martenitsas with wishes for good health and prosperity. The initiative was held with the participation of pupils of 140 school “Ivan Bogorov”, Arts profile. Dressed in folk costumes, they gave martenitsas to passengers and explained to foreigners about that Bulgarian tradition.

The traditional initiative of giving martenitsas at Sofia Airport is part of our corporate social responsibility policy aimed at preserving and promoting Bulgarian traditions.




Sofia Airport with high scores from passengers

Sofia Airport received high scores from passengers according to the results from the first marketing survey on passenger traffic carried out at Sofia Airport. More than 40% of passengers rated the available airport services with 4 on a scale from 1 to 5.


In May new route to Frankfurt to be launched

Starting on 22 May, airline Wizz Air launches flights operated on a daily basis to the fifth largest city in Germany. This was announced at a conference held at Sofia Airport by Gabor Vasarhelyi, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.

During the meeting with journalists at the airport the first Airbus 321 based by Wizz Air at Sofia Airport was presented. On the occasion of this event, the air carrier awarded the first passenger who purchased air ticket for the flight with a gift voucher.


Sofia Airport with 43% more serviced passengers in January


During the first month of the year Sofia Airport saw the record-breaking 468 968 passengers, which is 43% more as compared to the same period in 2016.


Sofia Airport with almost 5 million passengers in 2016

Sofia Airport ended 2016 with a record-breaking number of served passengers – 4 980 387, which is 22% more compared to the previous year. If 2016 had one more day, the number of passengers would reach 5 million. Terminal 1 saw more than 2,3 million passengers, аnd Terminal 2  – more than 2,6 million passengers.
