Sofia Airport held an official ceremony to mark the new scheduled flights to Dubai International Airport. They will be operated twice a week by flydubai – an airline that is also new to the airport.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport. Information Technology and Communications Anton Ginev, Executive Director of Sofia Airport Hristo Shterionov and Senior Vice President Commercial of flydubai Jeyhun Efendi.
“In 2014 more than 30 000 passengers departed from Sofia Airport to destinations in the Persian Gulf and their number is increasing. We sincerely believe that flydubai’s flights will turn Bulgaria into a more attractive destination for many tourists and business partners from the Middle East, Asia and other distant regions.” – Mr. Hristo Shterionov, the Executive Director of “Sofia Airport” EAD said greeting cordially the new airport’s partner.
Since the beginning of the year the airport welcomes its second new airline and launches new scheduled flights for a third time. Since the end of March the new airline of Air Serbia starts operating flights to Belgrade and since the middle of May Wizz Air flies to Malmö.
Considering the additional flights of fludubai, Sofia Airport already offers five flights in total per week to Dubai. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays Wizz Air operates flights to Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport, and on Wednesdays and Sundays fludubai airline operates flights to Dubai International Airport from Terminal 2.
During Winter Schedule 2014/2015 Sofia Airport offers 43 direct scheduled flights – 41 international and 2 domestic flights.
