Sofia Airport Summer Schedule

The Summer Flight Schedule of Sofia Airport comes into effect on 29 March. It offers direct flights to 50 different cities in Europe and Middle East. Over 10 500 flights are scheduled for the summer season. Twenty-two airlines will operate scheduled flights to the Bulgarian capital city.

Every day two airlines offer convenient connection from Sofia Airport to Vienna with 34 flights per week.

The flights to London, the most popular destination, equal to 31 per week. Passengers can choose between four air carriers and three airports.

The new season offers 22 flights to Frankfurt, and 18 flights to Paris per week. The three daily flights to Munich are preserved, likewise the two flights to Istanbul. Flights to Athens and Rome have 16 frequencies per week each.

Daily flights to Milan, Brussels, Moscow, Warsaw, Bucharest, Madrid, Tel Aviv and Amsterdam are operated more than once a day.

Flights to Belgrade, Berlin, Dortmund, and Larnaca are operated every weekday.

Two airlines open the season to Barcelona with 6 frequencies, increasing to 9 flights per week during summer holidays. Passengers can choose between three air carriers.

The timetable of the flights twice a week on Sofia – Dubai International route launched by airline flydubai in the end of 2014 is preserved.

Since the beginning of March the direct flights of Qatar Airways from Sofia to Doha offer convenient connections to exotic destinations five times per week in the summer.

 

New air carriers and new direct flights:

May – Swiss airline SWISS will operate flights to Sofia Airport 4 times a week, the flights to Zurich increasing to 9.

June – airline Bulgaria Air will offer new direct flights from Sofia to Dusseldorf every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Italian airline Mistral Air will open the summer season with new flights to Bari.

Since mid-September airline Wizz Air will turn five new destinations (one of them Bari) into all-year routes from and to Sofia Airport. Another new scheduled flight to Southern Italy that is about to be launched by the air carrier is Naples. Flights to Bari and Naples will be operated twice a week.

Two more all-year Wizz Air’s flights will offer convenient journey to Germany (to Koln and Memmingen)

Considering the new offers, Italy and Germany become the countries with the largest number of direct flights from Sofia – 7 flights each.

Since autumn, the fifth destination of Wizz Air available without changing flights will be Geneva – every Monday and Friday. The new routes will be added to the 17 scheduled international routes operated by the airline from its Sofia Airport hub.

The summer timetable of Bulgaria Air includes scheduled international flights from Sofia to 20 destinations and seasonal tourist chains to popular sea resorts in Turkey, Greece and Italy. During the busy holiday months the air carrier will provide 17 flights per week to Varna and 11 to Burgas.

Another Bulgarian air carrier – BH Air will offer charter flights in Summer 2015 from Sofia to Antalya and Bodrum. The airline is expected to announce the launch of the long-awaited direct flights to transoceanic destinations.
