Last year was record-breaking for Sofia Airport. Passengers served in that period were almost six million and a half (6 490 096), which forms a 30.3% increase on an annual basis.
What is remarkable is the fact that a record increase in passenger traffic was reported for every month of the past year. Terminal 1 had 36% of all passengers and Terminal 2 – 64%.
Traditionally, the strongest months in terms of the number of served passengers were July, August and September, with over 600,000 passengers for each month.
The 10 most preferred destinations in the past year were: London, Milan, Varna, Rome, Amsterdam, Brussels, Madrid, Tel Aviv, Frankfurt and Munich.
An increase of 11.3% was also marked in the aircraft movements in 2017. A total of 57 670 aircraft took off and landed in the previous year.
Processed cargo and mail shipments were similar to those of the previous year and equalled to 21 thousand tonnes on an annual basis.
