With the beginning of 2016 Sofia Airport made a pleasant surprise to its customers offering a new air service. For the first time our capital will be connected by air with UK’s most preferable city to live – Bristol.
The start was made by 173 passengers who took off from Sofia on 11 January, in the late afternoon. The flight was celebrated with music, cake and drinks.
That route increases the number of the British airports that can be visited by Bulgarians for touristic, business or educational purposes. Last year about 300 thousand travelled from Sofia Airport to the most desired destination – London.
The Sofia-Bristol air service is the first one out of the 5 air services that Wizz Air will launch this year. The flights will be operated twice a week (on Mondays and Thursdays). Hour of departure from Sofia Airport – 18:30 local time, and landing in Sofia will be on the next day at 01:55 local time.
The remaining four routes – to Alicante, Oslo/Torp, Hamburg/Lübeck and Birmingham will be launched at the end of March with the Summer Schedule, when the air carrier’s fleet based at Sofia Airport will be increased, a 6th aircraft being added to it.
Last year the number of passengers who travelled with Wizz Air to and from Sofia increased by 34 % and contributed to the achievement of 4 million passengers on the eve of New Year and Christmas holidays.
