Sofia Airport welcomes and sees off its guests with martenitsas

On the Day of Baba Marta (Grandma March) – 1 March, Sofia Airport welcomed and saw off passengers with martenitsas and wishes for good health, luck and prosperity.

The traditional symbols were given by students of 140th High School “Ivan Bogorov in Sofia, who, dressed in folk costumes, raised the spirits and made passengers smile. Martenitsas also provoked great interest among foreign visitors who learned about the Bulgarian custom.

Cosmonaut Krasimir Stoyanov guest lecturer at Sofia Airport

A month before the International Aviation and Cosmonautics Day, the educational initiative "Aviation School" met children from a school in Sofia with Bulgarian cosmonaut and researcher Krassimir Stoyanov.

During his lecture, he explained how he preparеd for the Second Soviet-Bulgarian Space Fligh in 1987-1988, shared with children curious facts and stories of the aviation and cosmonautics world and showed them how space food looks like.

Sofia Airport with almost 4% increase in passengers in February

Passengers

In the second month of 2018, Sofia Airport served 473 242 passengers. This is a 3.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Terminal 2 was used by 64% of all passengers, and the remaining 36% passed through Terminal 1.

Sofia Airport "Aviation School" with a prestigious award

Sofia Airport’s Volunteer Program "Aviation School" received special recognition from the Bulgarian Airlines Association. A statuette and diploma were awarded to the Chair of the Board of Directors of Sofia Airport EAD and patron of the initiative – Mrs. Asya Ivanova. In her speech, she thanked the colleagues and partners for their support and commitment to the implementation of the project, as well as for the good work of all employees that has resulted in a record-breaking number of serviced passengers.

Sofia Airport with new direct and charter flights

Today Sofia Airport Summer Schedule comes into effect with scheduled flights to the Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana. They will be operated three times a week – on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays by Adria Airways.
