In October 2015 Sofia Airport served a total of 357 978 arrived and departed passengers, which was 12 % more as compared to the same month one year earlier.
Terminal 2 was used by 62% of passenger throughput or 222 thousand passengers (+2.9%). Terminal 1 marked a 28% increase in passenger throughput reaching 133 thousand served passengers for one month.
Passengers on international scheduled flights increased by 12 % as compared to October 2014. Passengers on domestic flights also achieved a slight increase of 1.7 %.
A total of 3 844 inbound and outbound aircraft were handled at Sofia Airport in October 2015, which was close to the level of the previous year (3810 aircraft movements).
80% of them operated international flights and 4 % – domestic flights.
This year, unlike the previous ones, the popular October charter programme was performed by Bulgarian air carriers. More than 4 200 tourist took advantage of the late summer in Greek and Turkish resorts.
In October 2015 at Sofia Airport a total of 1 609 t cargo and mail shipments were processed, which was 12 % less than the unusually strong October of 2014. The decrease concerned volumes on all-cargo aircraft, while the volumes carried on scheduled flights remained unchanged.
